Firefox 105.01 update
I think the latest update, Firefox 105.01, screwed up my bookmarks. The Star on the address bar is blue for any site. Clicking on it does nothing. Will not edit, three bar menu will not edit, Control D will not edit.
There is now a bar underneath the address bar for a toolbar which was not there previously. I have never used or needed the bookmarks toolbar.
The Release notes for 105.01 (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/105.0.1/releasenotes/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-desktop&utm_campaign=about-dialog) appears as a bookmark in an unrelated folder. It will not delete.
I did look at the release notes right after the update. I closed that tab and did not bookmark it.
Cannot add new bookmarks.
I just discovered on the three bar menu under the Bookmarks menu that 105 shows as the last recent bookmark. Prior recent bookmarks will open up the "edit this bookmark." Only the save button is highlighted & clicking on that does nothing & the menu disappears.
Please fix. Thank you

First, if you haven't already done so since this problem began, please do a normal shutdown and/or restart of your system. Restarting Windows can help by freeing up locked files, completing any deferred updates, and resolving temporary file permission issues.
Next, if Firefox still has bookmark problems, could you let us know what you get when you run the "Verify Integrity" diagnosis and repair function. That's here:
Open Firefox's Troubleshooting Information page using any of these methods:
- "3-bar" menu button > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Near the bottom, there is a section titled Places Database -- that's the file which stores history and bookmarks. Click the button labeled Verify Integrity. There may be a 10-15 second delay before results appear.
If all is well, the report that appears below the button should start with:
> Task: checkIntegrity + The places.sqlite database is sane + The favicons.sqlite database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent
Does yours say that, or something else? You can select and copy the report, and then paste it into a reply for review and comment.
Bookmarks are working again today. I've noticed there's been changes to the format of edit bookmarks. The bookmarks checked out without my doing anything. I later did a restart and followed your directions. I found the Places Database and the report is the same except there's a whole lot more below it.
I later was looking up & found something in my history and I saw that the history for 10/1 is missing. That has me also scratching my head.
At any rate, here's the report:
> Task: checkIntegrity + The places.sqlite database is sane + The favicons.sqlite database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent > Task: expire + Database cleaned up > Task: originFrecencyStats + Recalculated origin frecency stats > Task: vacuum + Initial database size is 20480KiB + The database has been vacuumed + Final database size is 20480KiB > Task: stats + Places.sqlite size is 20480KiB + Favicons.sqlite size is 25248KiB + pragma_user_version is 69 + pragma_page_size is 32768 + pragma_cache_size is -2048 + pragma_journal_mode is wal + pragma_synchronous is 1 + History can store a maximum of 122689 unique pages + Table moz_origins has 3051 records + Table moz_places has 27182 records + Table moz_historyvisits has 55144 records + Table moz_inputhistory has 0 records + Table moz_bookmarks has 2505 records + Table moz_bookmarks_deleted has 0 records + Table moz_keywords has 0 records + Table sqlite_sequence has 1 records + Table moz_anno_attributes has 3 records + Table moz_annos has 141 records + Table moz_items_annos has 0 records + Table moz_meta has 8 records + Table moz_places_metadata has 0 records + Table moz_places_metadata_search_queries has 0 records + Table moz_places_metadata_snapshots has 0 records + Table moz_places_metadata_snapshots_extra has 0 records + Table moz_places_metadata_snapshots_groups has 0 records + Table moz_places_metadata_groups_to_snapshots has 0 records + Table moz_session_metadata has 0 records + Table moz_session_to_places has 0 records + Table sqlite_stat1 has 17 records + Table moz_previews_tombstones has 0 records + Pages sequentiality: 46 + sqlite_schema: 32KiB (0.2%), 30.4% eff. + moz_inputhistory: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + sqlite_autoindex_moz_inputhistory_1: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_bookmarks_deleted: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + sqlite_autoindex_moz_bookmarks_deleted_1: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_keywords: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + sqlite_autoindex_moz_keywords_1: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + sqlite_sequence: 32KiB (0.2%), 0.1% eff. + moz_anno_attributes: 32KiB (0.2%), 0.3% eff. + sqlite_autoindex_moz_anno_attributes_1: 32KiB (0.2%), 0.3% eff. + moz_annos: 32KiB (0.2%), 42.6% eff. + moz_items_annos: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_meta: 32KiB (0.2%), 1.4% eff. + moz_places_metadata: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_search_queries: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + sqlite_autoindex_moz_places_metadata_search_queries_1: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_snapshots: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_snapshots_extra: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_snapshots_groups: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_groups_to_snapshots: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_session_metadata: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + sqlite_autoindex_moz_session_metadata_1: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_session_to_places: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + sqlite_stat1: 32KiB (0.2%), 2.9% eff. + moz_previews_tombstones: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_bookmarks_itemindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 83.2% eff. + moz_bookmarks_parentindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 89.9% eff. + moz_keywords_placepostdata_uniqueindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_annos_placeattributeindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 5% eff. + moz_items_annos_itemattributeindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_placecreated_uniqueindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_referrerindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_snapshots_pinnedindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_places_metadata_snapshots_extra_typeindex: 32KiB (0.2%), 0% eff. + moz_bookmarks_itemlastmodifiedindex: 96KiB (0.6%), 48% eff. + moz_bookmarks_dateaddedindex: 96KiB (0.6%), 40.7% eff. + moz_bookmarks_guid_uniqueindex: 96KiB (0.6%), 50.9% eff. + moz_origins: 160KiB (1%), 70.4% eff. + sqlite_autoindex_moz_origins_1: 160KiB (1%), 65.3% eff. + moz_places_visitcount: 256KiB (1.6%), 85.2% eff. + moz_bookmarks: 288KiB (1.8%), 84.8% eff. + moz_places_frecencyindex: 288KiB (1.8%), 83.3% eff. + moz_places_originidindex: 320KiB (2%), 80.9% eff. + moz_places_url_hashindex: 416KiB (2.6%), 89.5% eff. + moz_places_lastvisitdateindex: 448KiB (2.8%), 91.5% eff. + moz_places_guid_uniqueindex: 576KiB (3.6%), 92.2% eff. + moz_historyvisits_fromindex: 576KiB (3.6%), 91.7% eff. + moz_places_hostindex: 736KiB (4.6%), 93.8% eff. + moz_historyvisits_dateindex: 928KiB (5.7%), 95.4% eff. + moz_historyvisits_placedateindex: 1088KiB (6.7%), 96.2% eff. + moz_historyvisits: 1376KiB (8.5%), 96.2% eff. + moz_places: 7168KiB (44.4%), 98.8% eff. > Task: _refreshUI
Sounds good, when bookmarks are not working, the report can indicate whether a file is corrupt or inaccessible, but when when bookmarks are working, it can't tell you what was wrong the other day. So hopefully it was a one-time glitch and it won't happen again.
Thank You! So glad it resolved. This stuff is all Greek to me.
