Firefox 105.01 last update screwed up my menus, how do I uninstall the last update?
How can I uninstall the latest Firefox Update? My version is 105.01. When I right click on the file menu, there is a blank menu, except for the "Bookmarks Menu" is the only thing. Also, the side menu on the right side is useless. None of the commands show except for a couple keyboard shortcuts. I tried changing themes and also changed to the default theme with no luck.
I rely heavily on the menus so i would love to roll back/uninstall the update. Thank you. nottyn

If you run the mouse up and down over the items so they get highlighted, does that make any difference in whether the items are readable?
Could you test in Firefox's Troubleshoot Mode? In that mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is running:
You can restart Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Help > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)
- (menu bar) Help menu > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)
If those are not readable, use Alt+H followed by M
and OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).
If Firefox is not running:
Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.) A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).
Note: Don't use the Refresh without first reviewing this article to understand what will be deleted: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.
Any difference?
Thank you for your quick reply. The Troubleshoot Mode made it worse!!! I tried to create a screen shot, but as soon as I click on the application to take the shot, the menu disappears. When I right click on the right side of the searchbar, there is only one symbol, the down symbol. same with the right click on the the empty space where the tabs go. My file menu somehow disappeared from this experimenting and I have no idea how to view it again. I cannot see my bookmarks at all and cannot bring up it's menu nor the bookmark toolbar menu. What is the keyboard shortcut to bring up the file menu?
Anyway, I didn't do a refresh because I am pretty sure it is entirely the fault of the update. Even if it is partially the fault of some setting, for ex. fonts enlarged....I need those settings because of my bad eyesight.
So is there any way I can uninstall the update? Thanks for reading, nottyn
Firefox doesn't have a feature to roll back. If you run an older installer, it will ask you to create a new profile. Actually, you could create a new profile now as a test to see whether it looks normal and, if it does, you could compare appearance settings (on the Settings page).
New Profile Test
Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.
Take a quick glance at the page and make a mental note of which Profile has this notation: This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. That is your current default profile.
Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like Test2022, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.
Firefox will switch your default profile to the new one, so click the Set as Default Profile button for your regular one to avoid an unwanted surprise at your next startup.
Scroll down to Test2022 and click its Launch profile in new browser button.
Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system to get a clean test.
Are menus readable in the new profile?
When you are done with the experiment, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (Test2022 will remain available for future testing.)
Do a clean reinstall of the current Firefox release and delete the Firefox program folder before installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
- download the Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
*https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows Registry and settings in security software.
- do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall the current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including personal data in profiles created by other Firefox versions
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
- it is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling
Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

Reinstall Firefox
The latest update, Firefox 105.01, screwed up my bookmarks. The Star on the address bar is blue for any site. Clicking on it does nothing. Will not edit, three bar menu will not edit, Control D will not edit.
There is now a bar underneath the address bar for a toolbar which was not there previously. I have never used or needed the bookmarks toolbar.
The Release notes for 105.01 (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/105.0.1/releasenotes/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-desktop&utm_campaign=about-dialog) appears as a bookmark in an unrelated folder. It will not delete.
I did look at the release notes right after the update. I closed that tab and did not bookmark it.
Cannot add new bookmarks.
I just discovered on the three bar menu under the Bookmarks menu that 105 shows as the last recent bookmark. Prior recent bookmarks will open up the "edit this bookmark." Only the save button is highlighted & clicking on that does nothing & the menu disappears.
Please fix. Thank you
