re :I am currently using Thunderbird Ver:104.OB2 32bit.

I notice you have been using beta versions for quite a long time. It's really hepful for people to test and report on the beta versions so bugs can get found before the release version is sent out for the general community.

Are you discovering this password issue seems to occur after you have updated to latest version ? If you need to keep entering password then it suggests the password is not being saved.

Are the passwords visible here: Menu icon > Settings > Privacy & Security Click on 'Saved ' Passwords' click on 'Show Passwords' Do you see passwords ?

Possible - You have some clean up software on computer like CCleaner or Wisecleaner etc and it is removing what it thinks are files that should get cleaned up eg: cache files, session files, password files etc

It is also possible the pkcs11.txt is a problem

  • Menu app icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • Under 'Application Basics' - Profile Folder - click on 'Open Folder'

This opens a new window showing the contents of your current in use profile name folder.

  • Exit Thunderbird now - this is important.

Look for the following file and delete them.

Delete obselete files:

  • cert8.db - obselete file
  • key3.db - obselete file
  • secmod.db - obselete file

Delete these files - they will get recreated when you restart Thunderbird.

  • session.json
  • pkcs11.txt

Restart Thunderbird and report back on results.

If it still fails to store password: Do the above again, but this time delete all the following:

  • cert9.db
  • key4.db
  • logins.json
  • pkcs11.txt
  • session.json
  • xulstore.json

Please report on whether the pkcs11.txt file was missing or not. Also let us know if the first set of deletions worked or whether you had to go back and do the full set including logins, key4 etc
