why does firefox change my settings to delete cookies upon closing?

more options

"delete cookies and site data when firefox is closed" now gets checked against my will. i'm not checking it and have never had it set to do that. this is wasting tons of time for me, resetting my shortcuts and signing in to sites that are a pain in the ass to sign in to (specifically bandcamp). other settings get changed also, but not all of them, and my personal info remains. but a lot of time is also wasted correcting all the settings that have changed behind my back. this started happening within the past week. i've changed nothing.

it's not when i turn my computer off. i had to reset everything 2 days ago, but when i got home yesterday and turned my computer on it was working properly - settings intact. i used it for several hours, went to bed, turning the internet off, as i always do, and leaving pine player on. (it's not pine player causing the problem. i wasn't using it the other times) the computer never went into sleep mode, as per my settings... but after turning the internet back on this morning and opening firefox my settings are changed again.

any ideas? Thanks if you try to help

Firefox 102 migrated the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" checkbox to the "Clear history when Firefox closes" settings, now that it honors the exceptions list. When using "Clear history when Firefox closes", please make sure NOT to clear "Site Settings" because that category includes your cookie permissions and then you'll need to add them all again.

Menu -> Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Exceptions enter the url of a website and select Allow Check the box next to - "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed"

In the History section farther down the page, set the Firefox will... dropdown to "Use custom settings for history" Check the box next to - "Clear History when Firefox closes" In the Clear History Settings be sure "Site Settings" is not checked. (This will delete the Cookies and Exceptions) Also, be sure "Offline website data" is checked. (This will delete all other cookies and checks the box next to "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" anyway) All cookies will be deleted when Firefox is closed EXCEPT the ones Allowed in the Manage Exceptions list.

Are you running Firefox 99, or did you set Firefox to lie to websites (it even works with this one) and actually you run a newer version?
