Errors on setting up new mail account
Upon my efforts to manually set up a new POP3 mail a/c I either get "Incoming server already exists" or "Checking password hangs" Following earlier archived suggestions I have uninstalled and reinstalled TB, but no change to its nasty nag.
I am following the instructions sent to me for the new server:
Protocol: POP3 Username: me@xyz.com Password: xxxxxxxxx Incoming Server: server.abc.com POP3 (Incoming) Port: 995 Outgoing Server: server.abc.com SMTP (Outgoing) Port: 465 Encryption: auto (or SSL/TLS)
I have tried this entry about ten times and I get one or other of the two messages above. Un-obscene suggestions welcome.

"Incoming server already exists"
When creating a new account you'll need to give it a unique account name.
Thank you. I see that I made a mistake in my question. The new account is me@abc.com, i.e me on server.abc.com so that produces the errors. The owner of server.abc.com says that it has to be something in Thunderbird because no one else who uses that site uses TB.
Are those your actual server settings? server.abc.com? Seeing the actual incoming server and outgoing server settings may help.
I'm told to use for both incoming server and outgoing server = server.familyhistoryhosting.com
Again, Please post a screenshot of your settings in Email Wizard, minus the password. I attempted to check the server names and received a security error on the certificate.

Thank you for your efforts to solve this problem, which is driving me mad.
Are there other accounts defined in the same profile? Accounts that share the same server? If not, I suggest removing this account completely and restart, omitting the password.
