disable threading in thunderbird 102

so far i was lucky with tb 102 as for me it "just works" as before, _but_ it seems that "sort by ... threaded" is now the default setting for folder views which i personally hate.
as i have "millions" of folders I don't want to switch every single one of them to "unthreaded" manually.
unfortunately i didn't find a setting within the ui that allows to change the setting generally being effective for every folder.
so i tried that: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1377304 but it didn't work.

do i need to change another setting as well? maybe add "ShowExpanded" as well? but i'didn't understand how to do this: "the second group of values can be added to one of the first group to combine effects"
maybe i also have to change the setting "mail.folder.views.version" - to which value?
is it actually possible with new tb 102 to generally change the new default view "sort by ... threaded" to "sort by ... unthreaded"?

Did you try setting view>sort by>unthreaded? I'm puzzled that you asked, implying you did not try it.

If you're familiar with config editor, set mailnews.default_view_flags to 0 for default unthreaded.

The value for 'show expanded' is 32, but I don't know what that achieves. The value of 0 works for all my folders, so I'm puzzled. If it isn't working, maybe there is a bug when the number of folders is high.
how can i add "show expanded" with value 32? in "mailnews.default_view_flags" i already have 0 for "unthreaded", and i cannot enter two values...
The syntax is 0 plus 32, resulting in 32 for a final value. Official specs say '20', but that's a hexadecimal value. Again, I have no idea what 'show expanded' means, but it's worth a shot. Still, 0 should work and should be reported as a bug with your details. I have 0 on three versions of TB and all folders are unthreaded.
Like you, I am annoyed that the developers made that decision for 102. Was one of my first changes.
just tried 32, 20 and 0 again; same result = folders still threaded. where can i report that apparent bug?

Hello, I'm a new member of this forum and I'm seeing a similar problem to lyrabee.
I've tried david's suggestion of setting "mailnews.default_view_flag" to 0 and then restarting Thunderbird, but it's not working for any folders I'd created before changing the flag value, so I'll be waiting for them to fix that reported bug as well.
Sorry, the developers do not see that as a bug. They consciously set it to apply to folders appearing after you make the change.
hi, the problem was fixed - at least for me - with an additional setting in the right-click menu: since tb 102.2.1 beside "apply columns to..." you can now set "apply current view to...". yay! :)
