I'm using freshly-downloaded Firefox version 102.2 on a brand new laptop (Windows 11 Pro version 21H2), and every single extension is showing a "Installation aborted because the add-on appears to be corrupt" message when I try to install. I have tried checking for updates, quitting and reopening firefox, restarting my computer, refreshing firefox, uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, as well as any and all combinations of those. I've scoured these message boards and nothing is working for me. Please help!

Ok, so I paused antivirus, uninstalled firefox, restarted my computer, reinstalled, and now I've got everything downloaded. Re-enabled antivirus as well. Thanks for the help! Do you know from these other users if eset is blocking the use/function of these extensions, or just the download?

So I seem to have fixed the issue by doing the following:

Uninstall firefox through control panel Delete Mozilla folders in /Users/<username>/Appdata -> Local/LocalLow/Roaming Delete Mozilla folders in Program Files/ProgramData Clear temp files Run disk cleanup Windows Key + R -> regedit -> Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software -> Delete Mozilla/mozilla.org/MozillaPlugins entries from the registry Restart machine Re-install firefox

That method will delete all of your user data. All of it. Forever.

Thank you Robert lol. Any other suggestions?

Actually, we've seen this issue recently with half a dozen users and are trying to figure it out. It's possible that a security software is the culprit. Which do you use?

Also, you mention "Firefox version 102.2" - is that a typo?

Hi Robert. Oops yes it is a typo, I'm on 102.0. I also use McAfee, but I just switched over from eset. I temporary disabled it and tried again, and the same issue occurred.

Good to know about the typo. (I thought maybe a scam) Other users also use ESET and are having the same issue with extensions. Was there an update recently?

Hm. As far as I can see the last update took place on June 29th of this year.

... and folks started having issues this weekend. I'm going to the ESET forum and look around. I'll get back with you.

Wow, great news! I think one user said that their extensions weren't working. All others said that they couldn't Add any.

Thanks so much for helping out. I know from experience how strong ESET is and how difficult it can be to troubleshoot.

BTW - After you make sure everything is working with your extensions, please mark your effort as the Solution so that other users can find it.

Thanks again.

I did this thoroughly about 3 times, and it still is on my system. Another time it said the install was interrupted, i checked my internet connection, and it's fine. This version of FF is a mess. Bad code, because everything was working fine until i updated to 102, or maybe it was even 101. i don't remember, i had to spend so much time trying to fix it.

Please roll out a new version, and get rid of the extension problem.

@jazluvr90 This is not "Bad Code" or everyone would be having the problem. This is not a Firefox problem. This is an ESET issue. If you want a hotfix for this, contact ESET.

Have you tried the above method with the full installer?
