Yesterday my inboxes would show new messages are available but they do not appear for me to read. They do appear on my cell phone.

Right click the folder, select propertied and then the repair button.
Prevention. Stop your anti virus from scanning in the Thunderbird profile folder.
We discovered how to do that last night and that brought out all the email but I had to do that every time I opened either my charter or gmail account. I also uninstalled and then reinstalled Thunderbird but that did not solve the problem.
