move emails to trash instead of deleting when "deleting junk"

I have a problem with the behavior of the "delete junk" option in the right click menu. These emails are deleted completely and forever and they are NOT moved to my trash folder. Is there a special setting where I can configure Thunderbird to achieve that the emails are moved to the trash folder?
