Hi I am trying to sign up to Thunderbird so I can transfer my emails to it. I have followed the steps to download thunderbird onto my Mac0S however when I try to go through the steps to 'set up existing email address' it tells me 'Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account'. I have contacted my current email provider and the person supporting me followed the Thunderbird steps on their computer (Mac) and after they had filled in their name, email address and password it came up saying 'available configurations and gave the IMAP info, they then proceeded to click done and their emails transffered over. My question is why am I not getting the 'available configurations IMAP' come up? I have deleted and reloaded the app several times, the other person has proven the email server can be recognised by thunderbird so I am now at a loss for what to do. Any thoughts would be greatly received, I have been struggling with this for over a week now!! Many thanks Emma

When you add an account, after entering your address and password, click Manual config. to bypass the settings lookup process and enter the settings given by the mail provider.

If your setup doesn't work the same as for the support person, it could be due to some external app on your computer, such as antivirus, password manager or VPN, that is interfering.
