Thunderbird slow
When clicking on emails and also creating emails, Mozilla is slow. It hesitates. When I clear the cache, it speeds it up considerably. But I find myself having to clean out the cache anywhere from 1 to 3 times daily. This doesn't seem right.

Looks like you are on an Android device? What device specifically. And what version of THunderbird?
I'm messaging on an Android device. But my problem is with Thunderbird on my personal computer. I can clear out the cache and the history and it's quick for maybe a day. Then I have to keep clearing it out. I wonder if there's a way to automatically clear it once every so often.
It's just it doesn't seem like I should have to clear all the history and the cache out morning noon and night.
No you can't. And anyway, clearing cache is not long term solution.
