Hello Firefox support team. When I open a window (application, data folder or whatever) in front of firefox, then the window doesn't disappear properly when I close it. Bits of it remain (see images) and I have to click on the menu bar or outside the firefox window to get rid of them. It's getting a bit annoying - doesn't happen al the time, but regularly on a seemingly random basis. The problem has existed for a while now, since two or three updates ago. Any clues as to what's going on? Thanks,

Fraidy.

Hello FredMcD

Problem seems to be solved! I started Firefox in troubleshoot mode and the problem didn't occur, went to settings / preferences, unchecked recommended performance settings and hardware acceleration, then restarted. And that fixed it. It's behaving itself just fine now.

One question though - is there any downside to the fix? Will I notice Firefox behaving differently at all?

Thanks very much for your help, Fraidy.

Are those other Firefox windows or windows of other programs?

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

As a test, disable your protection programs.

That was very good work. Well Done.

I don't know if there is a downside.
