Facebook will NOT respond when I attempt to comment on a posting

I recently purchased a new (2021) iMac desktop. I receive notifications that a friend has posted an article on Facebook. I am able to access the Facebook page and read the article. However, I am unable to post a comment. I am also unable to use Facebook Messenger using Firefox. However, I am able to any of the above if I use Chrome or Safari. Why is Firefox the only browser I have trouble with?
