I am running on a Windows 7 64-bit desktop for work, and it's about 6 years old. Each morning I find myself unable to access any Google sites, but all other sites work fine.

For the last two weeks, every day I've had to do a full refresh of Firefox to default settings in order to access any Google sites. As an educator, we use Google Drive and Google Classroom all the time, so that is something I have to be able to access.

It's only Google sites that I can't go to, and it's only in Firefox. Once I refresh, everything is fine until the following day.

The only modification I make to Firefox is to enable Dark Mode. Otherwise, I don't use extensions or add-ons.

This has become a real issue. I'd like to continue using Firefox as my default browser so I need to find a solution. Any suggestions?

You can do a malware scan just to be sure.

You can check the connection settings.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

The problem still persists in Safe mode. I have tried clearing the cookies and caches in the past (the first day this happened). I cleared all cookies and caches, but that didn't solve the problem. The only solution I've found so far is to completely refresh Firefox everyday.

Could it have something to do with Dark theme? It's the only extension I enable, since I have to stare at the screen most of my work day.

Or just the fact that my computer is older? For the most part, it works just fine and doesn't give me any other problems. This is the only issue I'm having.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

If the problem goes away with the computer in Safe Mode, the problem is with one of the other programs on the system.

As a test, disable your protection programs.
