bookmarks menu (turned on in customization)
My problem is that I must have accidentally dragged a folder from bookmarks to the bookmarks menu bar. It can't be deleted (option grayed out), can't view properties (grayed out) and even when I attempt to to restore bookmarks from an earlier date it does not correct the issue.
I have restarted the computer.
I have restored bookmarks after deleting them all.
I have attempted to backup bookmarks (before trying to remove them) and no matter what that folder won't budge from the right side of my bookmark menu. I can make it disappear by turning off bookmark menu but that's not useful to me. (Did you know that when you back up bookmarks - firefox puts them into a json extension! Try to restore that file - it's NOT even an option! Rather the options are import from this browser or that one - that's another issue all together so let's set it aside for another time.)
I am totally frustrated because I am almost 100% certain that this done by me in my speedy way, trying to drag a bookmark to the folder rather than hitting the star and putting it in the appropriate folder.
The only thing I haven't done is uninstall this firefox and reinstall it. I am a bit scared to do that. I have been a firefox user early on. How do I save these bookmarks without creating the same issue again? I don't want to go through the entire ordeal only to find out something is corrupted in my profile. What then.
Ideas would be help me a great deal. Please be patient. I am used to doing things on my own but I can follow directions. The only problem I have is that pesky file that won't be dragged, or deleted, or moved in any fashion. Is there a bookmark cloud on mozilla where I can just reinstall my bookmarks, passwords and add-ons without a lot of hassle? I sincerely have done all I know how to do.

Do you mean "Other Bookmarks" on the right side? It's not you, it's Firefox.
A bundle of new features for the toolbar have been rolling out this week. Next week, in Firefox 85, there will be a new right-click context menu option to remove Other Bookmarks from the Bookmarks Toolbar; unfortunately, this didn't make it into Firefox 84. It is already pictured in the help article (Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window, with the version selector in the right column set to version 85):
For now, you could roll the bar back to Firefox 83 behavior if you can't just ignore this folder until then. Here's how:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste toolb and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 preference to switch the value from true to false
That takes effect in new windows (Ctrl+n) or after doing a regular exit/restart of Firefox.

I think this is a profile issue so reinstalling would make no difference. Where is the "bookmarks menu bar" if not on the Bookmarks Toolbar? Are you using the Bookmarks Manager? Call that with ctl+shft+o.
It's available via bookmarks manager (see image below)
It seems like it's separate folder that has similar permissions as the two above, the bookmarks menu and the toolbar. Who the heck knows how I managed to do this but I did somehow and now I can't undo it. How can I backup my books marks without the problem and completely removing firefox (possibly including in file management & regedit?) and rebooting and creating a new profile for firefox. Is there a way to repair my profile?
Ugh this is so frustrating first because I don't know how I did it and second because I don't know how to fix it.
I do appreciate your attempt to help.

Wow omg that worked like a charm.
I have to tell you though, that I created the Other Bookmarks folder years ago not firefox and came into being because they are the other links I use most of the time! I named it that so I would not confuse mobile bookmarks with my regular/ordinary laptop bookmarks. It was only recent that this became an issue. At first I could not rename it -- and then it began to bother me that I had no control of this folder. Today I figured out (when I calmed down) that I could indeed move all the folders beneath it to a newly created folder I called 'formerly other' (IKR LOL.) In any event that change from true to false fixed the issue. The problem only started with the last update of firefox - I just didn't notice it immediately. In any event. Will the next instance/version of firefox remove other menu tab? or anything else that I need to know before the change happens. I need to know if I need to do further work to move any existing bookmarks.
What Firefox calls Other Bookmarks was originally named Unsorted Bookmarks; I can't recall when it changed. It is one of the "big 3" bookmark categories on Firefox for Windows/Mac/Linux.
Under the covers, Firefox identifies these folders with unique IDs, so it's no problem if you have a folder that uses the same name. There should not be any conflict.
