cannot open downloaded pdf files
At the present time when I download a PDF file it cannot be opened in a pdf reader (Adobe or other), it does not give a correct 'open with' option when selected to open. It downloads with a .pdf suffix but with a doc type icon at the front. It was ok with downloads in August but seems not to have worked since the 83.1 upgrade. I have set the 'open links in apps' button to the on position as suggested. As often seems to be the case I have no problem using Chrome for correct downloads.

Firefox for Android does not have a .pdf reader in it, so you will need to use a dedicated .pdf app to open that file.

I am not entirely sure that you have understood the problem. I have got 2 pdf app readers on my tablet which correctly open pdf files that I have downloaded in the past (about 3/4 months ago). It is the current downloaded files that will not open. As I indicated, the files do not have a pdf symbol (three legged thing) at the front of the downloaded title but do have a .pdf suffix. Firefox does not specify an option app (pdf reader) in the pop up menu to open these selected files after being downloded but it does with the earlier downloded files.
