... nor does middle clicking on a tab cause it to close. i had this problem a few years ago and cannot remember how I fixed it ( unless it was to toggle about.config

browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick=true to false and back to true again) That did not work this time around.

Problem arose on my Win10 machine when left on overnight for Win upgrade, though the mouse driver seems to be a generic MS one from 2006. Have tried loading Logitech Options and selecting the required radio button for middle click/new tab but no luck.

Make sure you have set the default action for the middle mouse button in the (Logitech) mouse driver settings and not a special custom setting.

Yes, I had set the MMB set to open tab in the Logitech Option settings.

This problem must be a little gift from Microsoft in the Windows update of November 1 2020. Same problem occurs when using Edge. Replaced my Logitec mouse M185 (shares the same dongle with Wireless keyboard) with an old (steam powered I think) mouse with dongle attached to serial port and that restores the missing functions (in a clunky way). I don't understand why I don't see Logitech driver replacing the MS default drivers in Mouse Properties/Hardware/Driver/Driver Details. The events listed in Mouse Properties/Hardware/Events show "Device migrated" , "Device Configured (msmouse.inf)" and "Device started (mouhid)" at the time of the Windows update.

How do I get find the correct driver and install it?
