i have updated my firefox to the latest version 8.0.1 after that some sites cannot be open in these browser, shows ssl_error_handshake_failure alert, pl some one gave me a solution for these problem. i am using linux based OS.

The website may not have a certificate installed and works only with http.

Are you using an extension to force a secure connection or otherwise force a secure connection (HTTPS-Only Mode; dom.security.https_only_mode) as that can be a possible cause ?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
