double characters when typing
I keep getting double characters when typing in Firefox. Such as ffiirreeffooxx. I have already done the firefox refresh, uninstalled and reinstalled it. It still does it. I only noticed this problem happening this week. It's also doing it in Chrome, but not in Edge. I haven't seen anything useful or recent on this issue either from googling it or searching the support forums. Sometimes it will stop if I completely close firefox and restart it, but it begins doing it again soon after.

I have already done the firefox refresh
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

I created a new profile and used it. It did not fix the problem. I see only one folder in the Old FIrefox Data folder dated today, 22 Aug 20.
Is this with all websites/pages, some, a few?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

It has been with all websites. Firefox in safe mode did not help. I tried restarting the computer with Windows in Safe Mode with Networking, but for some reason it wouldn't connect to the internet then (even though it's supposed to be with networking??).
I created a second new profile, and this time did not import my bookmarks from the backup file and so far the problem has not occurred again. Of course now I don't know if there is a safe way to get my bookmarks back? I can't remember all of them.
Thanks for the help so far though.
Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.
Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Export Bookmarks To HTML, and follow the prompts and save it to a HTML file. Copy the file to another computer/profile. Repeat the instructions above, BUT select Import Bookmarks From HTML.

Mozilla search: Import {web link}

jscher2000 has a tool on his website to extract out your bookmarks and save them to an HTML-format bookmark export file. If you want to try it, here is the page:
https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/bookbackreader.html
To open the bookmarkbackups folder in Finder, use the "Open in Finder" button in the first table on the Troubleshooting Information page, and double-click into bookmarkbackups where you should see several dated files. From there you can drag and drop onto the conversion tool.
To import the HTML file, see the steps in this article: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.
