Firefox is no longer remembering my logins. I had 100s out there. Started yesterday. I tried the login.json file and that did nothing. I tried db4 but I only have one copy of that file. I tried to synch with my phone, which seems to have some of the logins and it will not synch. My files are not marked to read only and I cannot find any setting that may have been tripped to prevent logins from saving. Any other ideas? Thank you.

This is causing a huge problem for me. I have used firefox for years and years and have everything stored. They are not saving and disappearing when I do add new logins. I am not going to be able to use firefox if this continues. Any help out there at all?

Is this only about logins stored in the Password Manager (Lockwise) or also about websites no longer remembering you ?

A detail like a website remembering you (log you in automatically) is stored in a cookie. You need to keep these cookies to make the website remember you, otherwise you will have to login again.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you:

  • create a cookie allow exception with the proper protocol (https:// or http://) to make a website remember you
  • use "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" to let cookies without allow exception expire when Firefox is closed
  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Permissions"

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep

You can install the About Sync extension in Firefox 72 and newer on desktop to check what data is stored on the Sync server via the about:sync page provided by this extension.

You may have to close and restart Firefox to access the about:sync page added by this extension (see the about:about page for available about pages).
