What can I do to compensate for the terrible spell check ability of Firefox/Thunderbird
I use mostly Chrome browser but it's such a resource, memory and storage hog I've been using FF more. However, while spell check technically works, it's simply terrible and frustrating to use. With Chrome, I hardly had to add words to my dictionary while with FF/TB many essential basic words are flagged.
I read some other posts where FF flags most words, that's not my gripe. The dictionary is pathetic. I can't even find any add-ons/extensions that provide a greater vocabulary.
Are there some tips and tricks besides adding words one can use here?

Hi Confused_is_me, glad to see you on Mozilla Support Forum.
- Select Edit > Preferences from the menu in Mozilla Thunderbird.
- Open the Composition category.
- Go to the Spelling tab.
- Select Download More Dictionaries.
- Follow the Download Dictionary link for the desired dictionary.
- A Thunderbird add-on page will open for your dictionary. Press Add to Thunderbird.
- Wait for the download to finish; even if nothing seems to be happening, chances are a dialog will eventually appear.
- Press Add when asked to confirm the installation.
- When it's done, Thunderbird will display a message letting you know that the dictionary was added successfully.
If it doesn't solved your problem, then feel free to ask in Reply Section. Thanks for raising your question in Mozilla Support Forum.
You can add words to the dictionary if you want.

What's the "reply section"?
Where is the "Preferences from the menu in Mozilla Thunderbird" located?
It's unfortunate, you were trying to be helpful but you only made things more frustrating.

I tried Grammarly before and it's better than Mozilla,that's for sure. It's not as good as Google or Gmail. It doesn't even come close. But what bothers me is how invasive Grammarly is on your system. You must sign into your Google account and you can't use it unless you have another account linked to it if you choose not to give it Google access. Grammarly also leaves more than just it's login information on your PC. Both privacy badger and U-Block don't like it either.
What I am using is the online hotmail/outlook live version of MS Word. it's slow using the online Microsoft Bing platform but it's not as invasive as Grammarly. I compose my email/text there and copy and paste it to Mozilla or FIrefox. This is retarded in 2020 and not something I would have imagined I would have to do with any Mozilla product.

Which dictionary do you have? Often, a simple tweak to the dictionary add-on installer is sufficient to make it work in TB 60.
