how to default to desktop mode. why is it not an option

Hi
I do not believe that is currently an option.
Most good websites are designed to be responsive and provide a mobile view to a mobile web browser. Althought I recognise that a desktop view is helpful for the few web pages that do require it, for the vast majority of people and web browsing, a mobile view is going to be preferable.

I use firefox Android on tablets. the screen is large enough for desktop mode. mobile mode sites are typically lacking in comparison to the full feature set of the desktop site. the best example of this is trying to navigate and contribute to multiple Facebook groups in mobile mode.
I'm not convinced the argument that most people use mobile mode is completely valid. MOST people use the default mode. Since mobile browsers default to mobile mode I would expect most people to browse in mobile mode the most.
Additionally, the era of three inch screens is behind us. Even on my phone I usually prefer the desktop version of most pages.
for every site launch I must manually select desktop mode. it would be nice to be able to set firefox to desktop-mode-on by default.
When I use mobile mode, website will force me to install some Apps.

It's OBVIOUSLY not an option. If it were, this post wouldn't be necessary.

This is a matter of opinion and personal preference. This is NOT a solution.
It shouldn't be difficult to implement/offer universal/default desktop mode, as an OPTION.

I've read the recommended links, and I must respectfully disagree with their assessment of the situation. Their interpretation might be more understandable and acceptable if:
- all tablets and mobile phones were identical in screen form factor
- FireFox were absolutely infallible at determining whether the client was using a tablet or mobile
- Tablets and mobiles were not offered different versions of apps or addons as a result of this determination
- many sites didn't override the user's menu choice with every new page or page refresh
Since the above reasons continue to be the reality while using FireFox for many of us, the current situation is at best, highly inconvenient. For those of us needing larger type and other accessibity features due to disability, forcing our tablets to function as mobile phones is crippling! Why would it be so ploblematic to give us back this functionality?
Not only am I finding the lack of setting default desktop mode very inconvenient, there is also an associated issue. I don't know if it is intentional or a bug. I can visit a site and switch to default mode. When the notepad goes to standby, Firefox decides to switch it back to mobile mode after a while. When I have logged in to a site, e.g. a forum, I get logged out and have to log in again.
There is absolutely no reason to implement this behaviour. Users should be able to choose desktop site - and certainly not have their decision reversed.
