Folder sidebar disappears when program is opened

Размещено

Whenever the program is started, the folder sidebar appears for a moment and then disappears. I have to go to "View/Layout" and check "Folder Pane" to get it back. I have to do this every time I open the program; the setting does not "stick". It looks like there may be a "hide" function somewhere but I cannot find it. The only references I have found are to an "autohide" extension but I have no extensions relating to this. This problem appeared suddenly, probably after a recent update.

First: If you use a cleanup program like CCleaner or WiseCleaner etc, please make sure these programs do not have any access to any thunderbird profile folder or file as they are known for deleting files that are necessary eg: session files.

In Thunderbird

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • Click on 'Open folder' button

A new window opens showing the contents of the 'profile name' folder.

  • Exit Thunderbird now.

Delete the following files:

  • folderpane.json
  • session.json
  • xulstore.json

Start Thunderbird.

Set up Folder Pane as required.

File "folderpane.json" is not there. "folderTree.json" is but sounds more general. Same thing?
