Icon problem in message list pane especially when using userChrome

For awhile I've occasionally been getting an issue in the message list pane when the starred (but not unstarred) icons, always along with both read and unread icons, just disappear from their columns in the message list pane (although the messages are all actually still correctly known as being starred or not, marked as unread or not when checked by other means). Up to now this has just happened occasionally when Thunderbird has been running non-stop for some days (with the laptop just being put to sleep each night). And when it has happened, simply quitting TB, then restarting it has restored the star and read/unread icons in the message list pane. Irritating, but not happening enough for me to want to look into it.

Now, though, it has become an issue. I've been thinking for awhile that I'd like to have the message list pane with 'zebra stripes' - alternate message lines being slightly darker to break up the messages a bit visually. I've been using a userChrome.css file for quite awhile, just applying a colour (#E0FFFF) as the background colour of the folder list (folderTree) pane, message list (threadTree) pane and message window (messagepane - but I have messages open in a separate window, not a pane), plus specifying interface font and size. I don't know css, but a bit of searching found what to add for the stripes (a slightly darker colour for threadTree treechildren::-moz-tree-row(odd)), and I then found I also had to explicitly specify the hover colour and selected colour, which I hadn't had to do when only specifying the whole pane background colour. All works as expected and wanted ... EXCEPT the starred icons and the read/unread icons have vanished after the TB re-start.

With this userChrome.css with the added three entries for the message list pane zebra stripes, MOST TB re-starts bring it up with the starred icons and read/unread icons in those columns missing. But if I keep on and on quitting and restarting, eventually it will start with those icons back again ... but then the next time I have to re-start they disappear again and it's lots more quit-and-re-starts to get them back again.

Am I the only one seeing this flakiness with those specific icons (only - attachment and junk icons are rock solid) in the message list pane, either the occasional cutting out after some days of running and coming back with the next re-start I saw when my userChrome.css only specified the background colour for the message list pane, or the almost always not there and only coming back after many re-starts I'm now getting with the 3 extra zebra stripe entries in userChrome.css? And if I'm not the only one seeing this, is there any solution?

Thanks.
