How do I set Firefox for Android (version 68.4.1) to load desktop versions of sites by default?

Rather than having to go into the menu and select "request desktop site" for every page that loads, how can I configure this browser to load desktop sites by default?

All the write-ups I've seen on the topic for adding a user agent string In about:config provide instructions for older versions of FF, and the strings don't seem to work.

All of the add-ons I've seen in posts on the subject seem to no longer be available for download... with the exception of 'Desktop Everywhere', which doesn't work.

I can't stand mobile formatting and have long searched for a viable solution.
