Since I upgraded to 68.4.1 today I no longer see the Thunderbird icon in my windows task bar. I used to have it pinned there but the icon no longer appears even when Thunderbird is open. Same problem when writing a new email. It's a bit annoying as it can be difficult to locate the Thunderbird window when there are lots of applications open.

Found the problem. The old pinned taskbar icon had become invalid after the update and the icon had changed to a blank page so it looked like it wasn't there. I deleted the old pinned icon, restarted Thunderbird and the icon was back again.

Can you explain how or where you found the old pinned taskbar icon?

I'm having this problem as well. I used to just right click the Windows Start menu icon for Thunderbird and under the "more" line there would be an option to pin it to the taskbar. That option is no longer there. However if you go to the taskbar settings page there is a link that allows you to select which icons appear on the taskbar and I enabled Thunderbird but the icon does not appear. I tried disabling it and re-enabling it but still no icon.

This issue started for me with the 68.? update of Thunderbird when I noticed the icon was the white text sheet noted above. I also noticed that, when the icon was there, the text that appears when you hover over the icon said Thunderbird(3); not sure what the (3) means. I definitely only have one copy of Thunderbird.
