Unable to update Thunderbird
I do not understand why I keep receiving the “Unable to Update” message with respect to Thunderbird and why my Thunderbird is not being updated. This message states:
“A recommended security and stability update is available, but you do not have the system permissions required to install it. Please contact your system administrator, or try again from an account that has permission to install software on this computer.”
My account installed Ubuntu and other software onto this computer. I am the sole owner and user of this computer and have always understood that updates for programs installed via the Ubuntu Software Updater, like both Fire Fox and Thunderbird, are fully automatic via the Ubuntu Software Updater, requiring nothing more than my login approval, selection or authentication. This would appear NOT to be the case if this message is correct. I believe it is not unless there is something I am unaware of.
Can you please advise?

Hello there. Mike- pountney.
We have read your message.
If there is a problem with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
