Not junk going into junk folder in spite of being in contacts lists

Messages from a range of sources all with addresses in one or other of my address books keep being classed as junk. I regularly mark them as 'not junk' but nothing changes. I cannot see what else to try.. I realise that this is not a problematic as junk getting into my Inbox but it is all too easy to miss something important unless Junk is checked very regularly!

Are these messages marked as junk when you view the account through webmail? If so, that means they're being flagged at the provider's end, and adding the contacts to the webmail address book might stop them from being flagged.

If they're marked as junk by TB's junk controls, make sure the correct whitelist address books are selected in Junk Settings in Account Settings.

Thanks for this. As far as I can see the items are not put into a junk folder on my webmail Outlook account. As to the Thunderbird settings, there seem to be various items all from my contacts lists that sometimes pop into the Junk folder. All of my contacts lists are ticked as being acceptable that is, not Junk. I will try to keep checking my Outlook webmail as problems arise.

Note: If an email gets marked with a spam score by eg: spamassassin used by server and you have selected the 'Account Settings > 'Junk Settings' option to 'Trust junk mail headers by eg: spamassassin'. Then even if the email address is in one your selected whitelist address books, the email will still get moved into Junk.
