Import Outlook 2007 mail into Thunderbird

I've been running an ancient version of MS Outlook (2007) and it's got some issues that can't be resolved so I thought I'd give Thunderbird a try. Doing some reading, it appears that I *can* import using TBird v38.1 as newer versions seem to crash on import. Now, having said that, the articles I've been reading are several years old. Is there a newer version that will actually work? I 'shotgun' downloaded and installed a couple versions in the 50s and 60s revs and all of them look like they're going to work and then pop up a message that there is nothing to import.

Trying 38.1, it gets about 98-99% through and just hangs. I've let the latest attempt sit for a couple hours at the stuck point and I don't think anything is going on. The process shows 0% CPU usage and there's no disk activity associated with the Thunderbird process either...

Lastly, I read that the latest version of Thunderbird is NOT an upgrade path option. I may have missed something, but will there be a path to the 68.x version(s)?

Thx

You might have better luck with TB 17:

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_from_Outlook_Express

The import wizard is supposed to work with TB 60 or 68, but importing 'everything' doesn't work:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1247226

The 2nd link refers to another method that uses MailStore Home.

You can install TB 60 over an older version without problems. Better to wait until auto or manual upgrades to TB 68 are enabled.

Thx for the reply.

I bailed out of the import after almost 4 hours of nothing and it looks like it choked on a draft message, but everything else came over ok. Considering I had emails dating back to early 2000, 1 'hiccup' is more than acceptable.  :)

My plan is to create my 4 email accounts, create rules to move incoming mail to the proper account's inbox, then move the imported Outlook data into the Inbox and let 'er rip.

Am I on the right track?

Looks like I got it all working. No rules necessary to keep the emails 'sorted'.

Updated to 60.9.0 as well. So far, so good. Tomorrow will be the real test when work stuff starts coming in...

Doing the import still bombed out. However, my wife thought of a great solution - she uploaded her Outlook archive folder back to the mail server and then downloaded everything into TB!
