Hi Steve,

Perhaps you need a release version of Firefox, not Beta. It updates once a month.

I downloaded a release version, ive had firefox for years, it just decided to start updating to betas 3-5 times a week..

Ok it wouldn't let me use my "old profile" as the beta was a newer version so had to make a new one, so now ive got a new old version of ff, completely blank without any bookmarks settings or anything......great :(

Guess a button in settings to stop updating all the time was too much trouble....

Like.... hey ive a small problem in windows...... fine just wipe the hard drive and reinstall it..

Found a restore point so reverted it back, so is there anyway of stopping it updating 3-5 time a week without loosing everything?

Guess i should have mentioned i didn't want to loose everything ....what a pos.

You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (69.0.2) in all languages and all operating systems here:

Note that you probably need to create a new profile for the release version.

Note that Beta and Developer Edition update twice a week and Nightly update twice each day. See also:

If you see a b and a # on a end of a Firefox version file name when downloading it then it was a build on the Beta channel and not a Release channel version. A version on Release channel will not update to a build on another channel including Beta.

You appear to be using a Beta build of Firefox 70.0 say the current Fx 70.0b12

There can be say nine to twenty builds of a version on Beta channel in testing with say 12-14 being the norm.

Yeah i know, as i said i download the release version and it wiped everything so rolled back windows

I didn't download the beta, firefox just decided to update to it itself, and carry on from there..

as i also said "asked" is there a way to get the release version without wiping everything? ...... a simple toggle in the settings perhaps?

"do you want firefox to update every other day?" yes /no

instead of wiping everything and loosing years of data?
