Just uploaded Grammar, Emojis and British English. Only when I click on Grammar to try and check my email the whole mail crashes. Reports are sent, but wonder if I should just remove it. Many thanks Alan Jones

If you are using the addon at the following link: https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/grammar-checker/

Suggest you contact the author. At the link above there is a 'Support Email' link. Suggest you leave as is for the moment as you may be able to offer information to the author.

Loved your Kenneth Grahame tag. Guess you are a Brit, if not well done for reading one of the best books still around.

Could you also please post some crash id's for your crash. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-crash-reports

I might be handy if we can match a crash to an add-on.

How do I do this Not very PC literate

In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information Scroll down to 'Crash Reports' section. Crash reports look like a load of letters and numbers usually starting with the letters 'bp-'. You may need to click on 'All Crash Reports' to see them in a new tab. Right click on the latest crash report and select 'copy' Then in this forum, right click in a 'Post a Reply' text box and select 'paste'. Then click on 'Post reply'

Is this of any use

Is there a reason for not using an up to date version of Thunderbird ?

more options

By any chance, in 'Firefox' (not Thunderbird) are you using an addon called 'Ghostery' ?

more options

As far as I know I have got auto Thunderbird update on and checked that yesterday. Also not sure what is ghostery I have British English Dictionary, added Emojis as well and one called Paranoia as I thought this was a safety app. Plus Grammar. My Theme is Default. No Plug-ins. I don't appear to have any 'Add-ons' Not sure about Firefox, do not think I have this

re:As far as I know I have got auto Thunderbird update on and checked that yesterday.

In Thunderbird Help > About Mozilla Thunderbird What version does it say ?

more options

re :Not sure about Firefox, do not think I have this 'Mozilla Firefox' is a browser used to access the internet like 'Internet Explorer', 'Microsoft Edge', 'Chrome', 'Opera' etc. You would use a browser to see this forum.

I wondered if you used Mozilla Firefox and whether you had downloaded and installed an addon extension called 'Ghostery'.

In Thunderbird: When you downloaded the addon extension 'Grammer Checker', did you follow instructions on setting up and using a local LT server ?

Quoted info: The add-on is intended for checking grammar using LanguageTool functionality (in particular, the add-on uses its webserver). Though it can work without any further customization, it is strongly recommended to setup a local LT server, and change the add-on preferences to use your server. By default, the add-on uses the local server and falls back to public LT server (that can't handle the high load and can't guarantee the privacy).

Thunderbird 60.8.0 (32-bit) I use Windows 10 Home. 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor, 32.0 GB RAM Is this of help Again, very grateful

I did a search on my PC and put in Ghostery but asked to install app. Said no. Also looked at Control panel but no Ghostery seen For Grammar I downloaded, looked like .XPI file in my downloads then dragged and dropped into Extensions.

Could you post a later crash report number?

All of the crash reports you have posted to date show the version number of Thunderbird as 38.5, however the information you posted indicated 60.8 is what you are using. I think we need to establish exactly what is going on, so a very recent crash would be helpful here.

And that was still with version 35, not the newer version?

Alan: In the question title you say: Thunderbird 35 keeps crashing when I click on Grammar which I have just uploaded

The crash report also mentions TB version 35.

But when I asked what version you were now using: Reponse was: Thunderbird 60.8.0 (32-bit) I use Windows 10 Home. 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor, 32.0 GB RAM

Can you confirm whether you updated to Thunderbird to 60.8.0 and ever since grammer is working ok.

more options

I presume that Thunderbird updates automatically so I cannot definitely say except it was 60.8.0
