how do i get MY files back,plus other wierdness
so long time internet'r here,not a programer useing firefox focus......then...yes...then...added regular firefox for android, and the missery beggins. Seems that two firefoxes do not play nice, or rather get there identities and permissions where they can. Uninstalled firefox(regular) once to get issues straitened.Then aggreed to let firefox( regular) to have media/storage access on next install more issues,not closing,tracking usage,addons not working and probably conflicting,so..... uninstall, took its own apk AND all of my uninstalled downloaded apk's(time and money) with it,cant find my files or yours anywhere. Hoped a re download and install would find the files,no joy. Just one device/phone,(huaweee, phone) working from worlds most expensive internet(nova scotia,canada),and shamelessly messing around with anything and everything,BUT this is the first time I lost files where I didnt deleet them myself,So HELP PLEASE if you can

Hi lost dog, normally Firefox Focus for Android and Firefox for Android would operate completely independently, unless you set up Firefox Sync to share data between them. Is there a problem with Sync, or is that not relevant at this point?
As an overview, Firefox Focus is a simplified browser compared with Firefox for Android, which is much more complex and configurable. It's normal that they behave differently, especially because Focus is designed to forget quickly, which is quite different from Firefox.
By default, Firefox for Android stores downloads in the Android downloads folder. However, if you clear your browsing and download history inside Firefox for Android, it may also remove the downloaded files. Could that be what happened? It's not something I want to test for myself, for obvious reasons.
My experience has been that opening firefox focus will open firefox regular,just to a blank page or to the last tab, so wierdness. The files I lost might still be there, a folder called mbstph has a large number of files all created at the time I deleeted firefox ,all of the files have 32 character "names"and were created at the same time and are all under 50kb, some just 8 bytes. Is there any part of the firefox file system called, mbstph ? I have re installed firefox "regular" and have moved all of my other keeper files into a separate ,encripted, folder, tested decrpting and useing the files from there, so safe from the foxes David
whoops ,never set up a sync betewwen the foxes, nothing to sync from focus anyway right?
Hi David, "mbstph" could be a randomly named cache folder?
I'm not very familiar with how Firefox for Android handles file deletions. On Windows, using the clear data feature in Firefox would permanently delete bypassing the recycle bin, so that's not what we want to see for you.
I don't think you want to sync at this point. But when things are stable, you probably could share bookmarks across if you would find that convenient.
