After years and years of trial and error I finally, (I said finally) got my home page like I want it; with 3 top rows of icons of allllll of the places I regularly visit. Icons may be a incorrect term. It's a little square picture with a f on it and when I wanna go to Facebook I just click on that little square f and go straight to Facebook. Ain't that neat. Well, this morning when I logged in, two of the rows were gone the row that's remaining the squares keep moving around. Anyway, I want my 3 rows back and locked in place like it was yesterday. Probably never happen, huh?

I dono what happened but I logged in one day and all of my 3 rows of icons were back. I'm gonna assume the Icon fairy heard me and granted me a wish....or maybe its just good clean living. Anyway, thank you'll for your help.

Hi Jondee, sorry to hear about this problem. The "pinned" top sites for the built-in Firefox Home/New Tab page are stored with many other custom settings in a file named prefs.js. Did you notice any other issues with loss of settings?

Potential scenarios if you did not experience a crash:

(1) Firefox performed a Refresh

As you know, this also removes all your extensions. If you didn't have to reinstall extensions, this is probably not what happened.

(2) Firefox 67 profile migration glitch

Firefox 67 is migrating most users to a new profile named default-release. Some users aren't getting all of their settings across to it. Here are my suggestions for that situation:

If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your data, check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. Each will show links to a pair of folders; please ignore those for now. Please do not delete anything here -- don't use any Remove buttons.

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have another profile named default or default-longnumber listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Any progress so far?
