How do I get the "compact" message to quit popping up all the time?

Recently, almost every time I do something in my e-mail, a message asking whether I want to compact my messages pops up. No matter if I click Yes or Cancel, it goes through the conmpacting routine. Only if I click the X to close the box does it not run anything. How do I get it to go back to asking at reasonable intervals?

does the compact message make outlandish claims about the space that would be recovered?

Probably. I haven't been paying attention to the numbers, but it does always say how much space would be saved.

take some notice and get back. There is a bug, but it makes savings claims that sometime exceed the size of the disk.

Others have issues because their anti virus or backup / sync prevents the compact from completing.

Knowing into which group to put you makes a difference.

The most recent one said "This will save about 46.5 MB." Also, clicking on either Yes or Cancel seems to cause it to do something. The only way to get it to go away without doing anything is to click on the X.

Hi 46.5 MB seems a reasonable number, so likely not the bug. One thing to try, so it reminds you less often - Options - Advanced - Network & Disk Space - 'compact all folders when it will save X' - increase the threshold amount. Then it should wait a while before popping up the reminder again. Just in case this might be related to your situation - I have a MS Exchange mail server that retains my Inbox, Sent and Drafts, Trash - and syncs with TB. As well, I have a lot of local folders that are not on the server. I have found that when TB reports how much space would be saved, it seems to be counting space from Inbox, Sent, Drafts etc, as well as the local folders. Saying yes to compress actually only compresses the local folders, and so TB will again report a large number to be gained by compressing the next time. I just ignore it, X out of compress most times. I choose Yes to compress when I know I have been deleting or moving messages from the local files.

I hope this helps, Agnes
