I believe Firefox can not clear the cache to exactly zero, if that's what you're referring to. It is forced to display a few bytes in the cache area from my repeated tests over the years. Which I believe is reserved space that belongs to a main caching file that maps the cache files so that they can be called quickly. I'll dig in deeper to confirm this but that has been my finding over the years when trying to achieve a full zero result whenever I cleared the cache.

And from your screenshots (thank you very much for them btw!), I see cookies & site data are zeroed out which is great & what I expected. But "Cached Web Content" aka Cache has those few kilobytes leftover. Which is pretty normal in my experience.

Well I understand a small file buffer but then clearing down to 490 KB and now 430 KB. Whats the name of that file. I can't image 430 KB of data being small. I would like to know what data is contained in that small cache.

With the file name I can delete it.

Now Microsoft is complaining about my ad-blocker. I only use Firefox blocking.

To view the cache contents list, type or paste about:cache in the address bar and press Enter to load the page. Then click the link under Disk cache.

I'm not sure why MSN thinks you are using an ad blocker, except that its scripts detected that ads weren't loading for some reason and that's the site's best guess. Are you using the Content Blocking feature?

On my system, I found the cache files here:

C:\Users\Keith\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\fhn0bxkr.default\cache2\entries

Upon deletion of those encrypted file names, Clear Data does reset to 0 bytes.

Although I will have to do this manually ever so often, I feel much better. People do grow tired of becoming ad targets - hacked emails and such.
