Why are there so many limitations on the Android version?

I have a hard time understanding why things are so different. On my phone I can't have persistent tabs like I do on a tablet or the windows version. I have a big phone for a reason. I want to see my tabs at a glance and scroll through them if there are more than what fit on a screen. Why do I have to press a button to see my tabs and to switch among them? Why can't I choose if the larger device version allows it?

And why can't I default to a desktop user agent? Why do I need a workaround to make it happen? I shouldn't have to go to config and create an override option to make desktop view a default.

Why can't I have toolbars on the android version as well. You want me to use your product, why do you keep the functionality so limited when our devices are more advanced and larger.

I just don't get the whole watered down aspect of browsers that aren't windows/linux/ios. I'm sure there's a whole rash of things I and other could come up with. It just makes no sense to force people to change their workflow just because they are on android. And these aren't intricate highly involved changes either. They are simple and should be options if we choose not to have a watered down product because we're on a mobile device. My pixelbook is a mobile device yet you treat it as a second class citizen.

And in regards to bookmarks? No, I don't want to make my new tab page into a bookmark page. I'm not interested in workarounds. I want to make my the workflow on my non windows device the same as my windows device. I don't think that is too much to ask for. Especially when the linux version runs slow as molasses and you always want me to update away from the ESR version. Bad enough you won't, don't or haven't implemented many of the excellent TabMix Plus features when you moved to Quantum and broke the old way of doing things. All this moving forward, all this moving away from the norm in windows has just made things less productive and useful. I feel bad I contributed to the cause before because now it's nothing but frustration and my favorite browser has become a major annoyance. Overdramatic I know, but the points are valid.

Let's add to the list that on my Pixelbook, I have no right click capabilities. I can't drag a link up into the tab area to open the link in a new tab. I can't do squat. This is annoying as all get out. My choices are to run an extremely slow Firefox ESR in linux or run this neutered android version. It's a bit of a joke actually. It's not like this is a new app for android. And this quantum was supposed to be this "quantum" leap forward, yet I've lost all my tab control I had with Tab Mix. They couldn't even incorporate a fraction of its capabilities into Quantum and they killed it's ability for control over tabs. Kind of dumb to kill off an extension's abilities while not incorporating any of those abilities into the new browser. What good is speed if I no longer have control. That's like taking a porsche 911 and putting tires on it from a Prius.

Hi

Thank you for your feedback. We do look to see how we can further improve Firefox for Android, but please appreciate that we cannot always include everything that everyone wants do the limitations of providing a Firefox that works on the many different handsets and Android versions that people all over the world use.

We changed our add-on infrastructure to improve security last year a change that mainly impacted Firefox desktop users. We did not kill off any extensions, and we worked with the add-on community well in advance of the change to help them move to the new framework although in some cases, the add-on developers took this as an opportunity to stop supporting some add-ons.

This article will help you to manage bookmarks in Firefox for Android.
