I just installed Firefox 63.0 and I got the "warn when multiple tabs open on close" option so I checked it. The warning does no work and the option is gone. I've looked around the about:config setting, but I can't make hide nor hair of them. Any ideas??? To add to the confusion, if I have 2 Firefox windows open, the warning will work on 1 of them but not the other.

That is in the privacy and security settings in the main firefox browser. Have you looked there yet?

Hi wallytek, do you have Firefox set to start up with your windows and tabs from your previous session? With that setting, when you close the last Window, Firefox doesn't bother warning you because you will see those windows and tabs again at the next startup. At least, that's how it has worked for the past several years. I'm not aware of any change in Firefox 63.0.

The warning section in Options/Preferences is only visible when the warn prefs have been modified from their default setting and is hidden by default.

  • "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" (browser.tabs.warnOnClose)
  • "Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox" (browser.tabs.warnOnOpen)

I see nothing in Privacy and Security settings that has to do with my problem.

I see what you mean. I set the browser.tabs.warnOnClose to false and the option shows. I set the option on and the browser.tabs.warnOnClose resets to true and the option does not show anymore. Interesting ! ! ! BUT, Firefox only warns me when I have multiple Firefox windows. If I have 2 or more tabs open in 1 Firefox window, Firefox does NOT warn me on closing. Funny how that workss ! ! ! I'm missing something somewhere.
