While I appreciated this response, it didn't address my problem. Nonetheless, I went through another malware scan (have now used Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro) and I am still getting cleverly disguised come-on ads from Watch More TV. (Their ID is in tiny print at the bottom of the ad, so tiny that anyone who hadn't been through my experience might not notice.) In fact, one of those was the first thing to come up when I executed Firefox right after running Hitman Pro.

Now there's a new problem: When i execute Firefox, the window that comes up is blank. If I click on New Tab, the correct Firefox search window comes up in the new window, but that first window is blank.

If I uninstall and then reinstall Firefox, 1) do you think it will fix this? and 2) will I lose all my bookmarks and other settings? Is there any way to save them?

You shouldn't uninstall and re-install Firefox, that'll leave your profile there.

I want you to follow these steps, which will not only remove this from your computer, but help me know how to block this from other's:

• Type about:support into your address bar. Copy and paste everything there into this forum. You may have to break it into two posts, that's ok.
• AFTER you do that, please Refresh Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
• Then, install https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

Hi, no you will not loose your bookmarks or settings. Note it can be in your Profile so backup bookmarks and delete the profile and dig out what you can.

So could try uninstall and see if does not work a Refresh would possibly fix it.

Uninstall any Bittorrent apps, uninstall cracked programs and delete cracks then Post in only 1 forum, then wait.

I'm trying to do what Tyler Downer suggested but the results of about:support are so long and not cut-and-paste friendly. I printed a PDF of the page, but can't figure out who to send it. The Add Images function isn't interested in PDFs.

I really appreciate all the suggestions I have gotten and through a combination of them may have cleaned my laptop. This includes working with both Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro.

I went to about:support and attempted to transmit what I found there (as suggested by Tyler Downer), but it was so long that doing so was impossible. However, I noticed the Refresh Firefox (or is it Refresh Mozilla?) icon in the upper righthand corner. I clicked on that, it ran for just over 7 minutes, and the offending malware site has not reappeared (yet). I lost graphics on a lot of shortcut icons and all the shortcuts for my most visited sites on the Firefox search page. Small price to pay.
