I'm trying to install the enigmail program, but it won't and says it "isn't signed" and thus I can get/read or whatever a pgp program... or is it a file? Sorry to be so dense but I'm so spaced over this at the moment I seem to not be as focused as usual.

Any help would be appreciated... Nat, a long-time user of Firefox, which I love dearly...

Enigmail is for Thunderbird and SeaMonkey https://addons.thunderbird.net/thunderbird/addon/enigmail/

Firefox is a web browser and not a email client.

At this point this thread is so stale I can't recall what my original question was/is. I'm aware that "thunderbird" is an e-mail program, and thankfully it's the one I use. But... perhaps it wouldn't download, through Firefox?? and due to the staleness of this issue... I now have no idea/recollection other than, possibly, Firefox is the only "conduit" through which Enigmail can be downloaded on my system?

Perhaps it will all come to me in a dream.... Nat, trying to think of how to get supported, but always thankful for all support received in the past, and hopefully in the future.

The way to install an file-add-on in Thunderbird is to

  • first download it with Firedfox (or other) remember where you stored it
  • then in Thunderbird /add-on click on the weel and the "Install Add-on from file..."
  • find your downloaded file.

You can also download it direct from add-on manager in thunderbird. BUT Pleas read the comments

No the Firefox browser would not have a clue that you meant to install a Extension (such Enigmail) n a separate application as in Thunderbird or SeaMonkey.
