Why can't user-selected columns in Search feature stick?
I've asked the same question several times over the past several years and never got a satisfactory response. The last response, some 11 months ago, was relatively meaningless. The Save Search feature does not save the columns selected the previous time. And I rarely do the same search twice, so Save Search doesn't work. I always select the columns "from," "recipient," and "location." The default categories do not work for me.
How can I convince the (volunteer) developers at Mozilla to make this change, which doesn't seem to be that complicated? I don't understand why some customizable features in Thunderbird can be made permanent, while others cannot.
Thank you for any help you can give.

There are two search facilities, each with different UI. (Plus a filter) Which search menu or button item are you using to start search?
On the first page of T'bird,, before going into email. allows for a search - Under Advanced Features/Search messages.
Answer there, on bugzilla.
