Hi There, I have finally convinced my 70 year old father to use Thunderbird. His sight has been decreasing and the multiple captcha needed to access the websites of his email accounts have been making his life pretty miserable. Allowing a direct access to his emails (no captcha anymore), Thunderbird is putting him back in contact with social interactions and providing him again the feeling of being connected to the rest of developed world.

Quickly though, he has felt some limits of Thunderbird, limits which only come for the minority whose sight is not optimal anymore. A "possibly quick fix" is related to the color of the stars we can set to emails for instance to filter them or simply the user to highlight them and go back to them at the next occasion. The stars are currently colored in yellow, and on the white background vision impaired users do not see well the yellow stars. Would it be possible to make these stars red or dark blue so that they stand out from the background ?

I hope this could be a quick fix (fingers crossed), and if in the future Thunderbird were aiming at becoming even more "vision impaired friendly" it would be nice to be able to invert colors (black background & white fonts).

All the Best & Thanks for making Thunderbird exits as it is... :) PAscal

if you know html and css you should be able to find a way. In the chrome subdirectory you can create an 'userContent.css' file to style Thunderbird. Try this for a quick test:

   body {
   	background: lightgrey;
   }

and restart Thunderbird to see the difference. I hope that you will be able to customize Thunderbird as you need to. I think you can also find themes already done on the Internet.

Hi. Thanks for your suggestions. I tried the userContent.css file but nothing happened. In terms I have found addon such as - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/invert-colors/, but it does not apply to Thunderbirds - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/monterail/, but it only applies to the section of the page listing the email accounts but not to the section of the page presenting the emails, i.e. where the users can select and star the messages they are interested in.

I'll keep searching and trying.

Best wishes PAscal
