That's very simple :
You're typing 'about: config' with a space between the colon and 'config'.
Now, try typing it without interspacing, like this : 'about:config'
Okay now ?

Thanks, I copied from a page that had space.
an about: url to remember is about:about
This lists all the valid about urls for that versions.
