can't exit the Private browser set up

Some time back I think there was an upgrade or change of some sort to the private browsing area. I tried to do the change but I cannot finish it. I can back out no problem and I am online etc, no problem. Just can't get the private browsing running.

You can see whether you run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode in "Options/Preferences > Privacy" (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
    • [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

Do you mean Firefox's built-in private browsing feature, or is it an add-on feature, for example, associated with a particular brand of security software?
