I've been using ebay through firefox for years without an issue.

I noticed that recently when I click on links within the website, sometimes I will get a error page saying "Unable to connect. Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at signin.ebay.co.uk." Once this happens, I can't find a way to get to that page.

When I try to send a message to a seller, it takes me to a verification code (capcha) security page and I have to input a number. I ave to do this twice in a row before I get to choose what question I want to ask, then again after selecting, then again after I write the message. So 4 times in total.

This is only occurring on Firefox. I have tried other browsers and it works fine.

I've spoken to ebay and they can't help me as they see no issue with my account.

I have given my computer a full cleanup and uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox.

I'm out of ideas now. I need to use it in Firefox as my other browsers are used for different ebay accounts.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Thanks for your reply. I did it a different way which basically does what you suggested. I reinstalled Firefox but this time when it asked me if I wanted to completely refresh Firefox to default settings I selected 'yes' and now it works like normal. I wish I tried your solution first though as I need to reconfigure all my extensions now :(

Thanks for your help :)
