Hi   !

Let's try this:

Open the site that you want to set as your home page and copy the address.
In:   3-bar menu > Options > General,   delete anything that is in
'Home Page',   and paste in the address of your chosen home page.
Then close the Options-tab.

See:   'How to set the home page':   http://mzl.la/1BAQNzv

'Sure hope this will work for you   !

Good luck and keep us posted   !

If your home page change continues to work during your session (test by launching a new window, Ctrl+n) but you lose the page every time you exit out of Firefox and start it up again, there may be a problem with Firefox saving settings, or an optional settings file might be overriding it, or another program might be rolling back your changes. This article covers a number of the different reasons for that problem: How to fix preferences that won't save.

Hi   jscher2000,

Would you be so kind as to repeat this answer here:   /questions/1140696,   as this is a duplicate.
The   OP   has been informed and asked to remove the   Chosen Solution .
Going to ask a moderator to lock this question and flag it as well.
Thank you   !

Hi Happy112, I think it's okay just to continue the discussion here rather than having to say everything twice...

I have in fact locked the first question, and restored the marked solution in that question. This one is active and has more posts in it so it seems the most convenient method to continue here.

By the way the new forum software looks as if its standard tools for handling threads are better, and we will be able to move individual posts or groups of posts.

kakkarsk1 Maybe you are trying to follow this by looking at emails. Note this is a forum thread

Thanks for your replies, I think we have them but have a look at the forum in case you tried to post anything else. I will have to leave this thread for now but others should reply.

  • Are you posting from Firefox now ?
or are you using some alternative browser.
  • Is it just your home page that is not loading (probably a sign that it is not the real Firefox home page)
  • What is the address in the address bar ? for your Firefox Home page ?
  • If it was the reset / Refresh the caused the problem you could be in danger of losing data such as bookmarks and logins. If you have any new Firefox folder on the Windows desktop do NOT delete it at this time.

Maybe the troubleshooting page information will help us

  • Quick method please enter about:support in the Firefox address bar. This page contains information about your system and Firefox. Please click the Copy text to clipboard button and paste the information into this thread.
  • See also Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues
  • That will probably be rather a long listing, please edit out the print related information to make it short enough to fit in a reply.

Glad it seems to be working. Thanks for the reply Kim.

Firefox should not need to be Refreshed repeatedly if you need to do that something seems to be going wrong, and possibly it is a sign that you have some sort of adware or malware.

worked for a day then reboot next day---same-- tried reset again to no avail STILL WON'T SET A HOMEPAGE THAT STAYS-REVERTS TO DEFAULT FIREFOX

It's useful to know the timing. Sometimes at Windows startup, utility programs "clean" various of your settings. If you use any cleaning programs, try making an exception for Firefox so your data is not cleared.

Hi kakkarsk1, DO YOU PREFER WHEN PEOPLE WRITE IN ALL CAPS?

When does your preferred home page setting get lost? Here's what I mean:

(1) During your Firefox session. You set the home page, then click the Home button or launch a new window (Ctrl+n) and it works, but later (without exiting out of Firefox) you click the Home button or launch a new window, and you're back to the wrong page.

(2) Between Firefox sessions. You set the home page and it works, you exit out of Firefox and start it back up again, and your home page setting on the Options page has been changed.

(3) Between shutting down and starting up Windows. Firefox keeps the home page you set between Firefox sessions, but when you reboot your computer, it has been changed the next time you start up Firefox.

(4) Some other time. Please explain the pattern in more detail.

ALSO WHEN SET AND RUNNING IF I SELECT NEW WINDOW FROM THE TASKBAR THE PROPER HOME COMES BUT WHEN I SELECT A NEW WINDOW FROM THE TABS(+) I GET A HISTORY OF A FEW PAGES

Hi kakkarsk1:

(1) This article lists some reasons your settings might get lost when you exit Firefox and start it up again: How to fix preferences that won't save.

(2) The new tab ("+") button does not display your home page. As you noticed, it displays a page containing a search box and tiles from your history. That's normal.

If you want to substitute your home page for the new tab page, you can use this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/
