The QuickText webpage says this:

Works with Thunderbird 17.0 - 38.*

Have you updated to Thunderbird 45.0? If so, you need to nag the author of QuickText to update it. It has probably been disabled due to its apparent lack of compatibility.

This isn't the first time I've encountered QuickText being slow to track updates.

How do I nag these people ? This has set me back in a major way, work-wise.

Past versions of Thunderbird can be downloaded from here:

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/

Specifically, the previous version was: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/38.7.2/

You might have the installer to hand. Check your downloads folder.

PS I use Clippings. It works in both Firefox and Thunderbird and has never let me down after an update.

The second link takes you to the page for 38.7.2

Select whichever one suits your needs. If you use Windows, that's win32.

Then pick your language. I'd use en-gb, being British. en-us would be the US English version.

Finally you'll be shown the installer. Download and run that. Right-click is your friend here; save link as lets you choose where to save it.

I had the same problem, but it seems to be OK now thanks to Michael-usr on bugzilla.mozzilla.org: Hi Val, The file is part of the quicktext installation package. No need to modify it. You can simply try this:

1. uninstall TB addon Quicktext 2. download http://www.gramatec.de/quicktext-09.11.7_patch.zip 3. unzip download to a folder 4. install the patched version within Thunderbird by "Install Add-on From File…!"

Even the signatures were back as they were, so thanks Michael, and thanks Matt for the link!
