Why is thunderbird failing to connect to inbound.att.net while my phone can? It was working until yesterday.

1 Get Messages 2 stevenfnd@att,net Connecting to inbound.att.net displayed in status. 3. no other messages displayed. and no new messages received

Additional information:

OS: Windows 10 10586.218 Thunderbird version: 38.7.2 There have been instances where message retrieval has been very slow. I sent a test message to this account. Its successfully sent as verified by smart phone.
