I have a long list of bookmarks but since upgrading to 44 series previous now 44.0.2 this morning, the bookmarks won't connect to the website they are for?
Bookmarks are there but won't connect, this started in the previous version of Firefox and now in 44.0.2 just installed, again won't connect? I am using Windows XP. Yes I know but I have thousands of dollars worth of legacy software that won't work on v10.

Have you manually entered the web address? What happens with the bookmarks?
Hi Fred, B/Ms added with - Menu, Bookmarks, Bookmark This Page.
B/Ms are added to my Bookmarks list, (this has been working for years) up to the last 2 versions of Firefox. Now when you click on a Bookmark link nothing happens, if I copy & paste it into the browser the link works?
Bookmarks seem good, Firefox just won't open them?

Fred,
Though I explained above how I entered the bookmarks, they are entered through Firefox menu. If I copy & paste those Bookmarks into the browser they open.
Is that what you want to know?
Leaving work now will answer any reply on Monday.
Thank You
Sorry, my bad. Did you try entering the web addresses in the address bar yourself, manually?
Hi Fred,
Yes opening the web addresses in the address bar works, the bookmarks are correct. The problem seems to be between the bookmarks and the address bar in Firefox, could the install of Firefox be corrupted? I'm thinking maybe I should remove Firefox completely and do a fresh install? I have backed up my bookmarks file to desktop.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.

Hi Fred,
I have totally removed Firefox and done a new install no results still won't open B/M's. Upgraded to 44.0.2 this morning still won't open B/Ms
Have installed places-maintenance can't find where to run it from?
Looked at bookmarks_history_&_toolbars this talks of version 8 is it still applicable?

For Places Maintenance, you could check:
- Tools menu (if you do not normally display the classic menu bar, tap the Alt key to reveal it)
- Add-ons page, Extensions section: some extensions have an Options button to access their settings
After that, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)

That was very good work. Well Done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
Hi All,
Just a footnote to above, when you running Firefox Refresh it removes all/any add-on's you may have installed. If you need them just re-install.
But for me that was a small price to pay to get my bookmarks back.
