Hello,

This could be because of 2 reasons: -Pop-ups from websites, make sure you have the setting to not allow pop-ups enabled or an ad-blocker may do the trick -Malware; infections can lead to this occurring. Methods to get rid of malware is listed below.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Andrew, I would like to thank you so so much for the help you offered. The link http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware] was really helpful and I was successful in removing the unwanted programs. Without your help this wouldn't have been possible. I am using Windows 8 and the built in defender could not fight the malicious software. I had got tired with the increasing number of windows that were opening with every click and the ad banners on every page I visited. I only hope that the solution is not temporary and that the quarantined files do not wake up again to bother me. LOL

Once again thank you very much.
