Anyone who has a idea to how I can "cure" the problem with Thunderbird (v 31.7.0) why I can send an email and 30 minutes later can't because Thunderbird has mysteriously deleted the SMTP password/settings? It has happened over and over again lately and has begun to bug the "dirty word" out of me........... Thank you

Tools menu (alt+T) > options > security> password > saved passwords and check the password is actually not there. I think it will be.

What your describing is classic anti virus messing up behavior. Disable email scanning in the anti virus and see how you go. If you have Nortons, or another product with some form of password vault., Disable that feature as well.

Hi Matt, First, thanks for your reply.

I probably should have been less livid and a little more informative in my question.......

The password wasn't gone from Tools menu > options > security> password > saved passwords - it was there I got it from to copy and paste when I got that "pop up" telling me that my password was missing or something to that effect (sorry, don't remember what it said) and three (3) buttons - "Retry" and "Cancel" I remember, but not the one I pressed to paste the password to get it to work again.

Anyway, I'm gonna follow your advice about my Anti-Virus software (AVG) and disable the email scan and see what happens.

Thanks Again!!

Keep this thread up to date please. I am unloving it, mark it that way when the thing is actually working:)

And I am the king of snarky. SO I have a fairly thick skin to such from others. I tend to understand.

Hi Matt,

Okay, you're the expert. Right now things are working just fine, I keep sending myself mails, now and then, from "problem account" to my private account to see if it still works or gone FUBAR again. If/when FUBAR should happen I'll try to remember to take screendumps.

But Thanks anyway for the help.

A week without any signs of the problem......... I'd say you solved it!

Thanks again.
